Aaron McIlroy is one of South Africa’s most popular entertainers, both on the public and corporate entertainment circuits, with a string of stage blockbusters under his belt. These include, among other hits, his popular satires, The Loser, Mr Personality, My Cousin Brother, The Stand-Up, DOF, The Golfer, Unplucked and The Happy Clapper. Aaron starred as the lunatic father, Mr Milton in ‘Spud – the Movie’ alongside Troy Sivan and John Cleese. Under the banner of MacBob Productions, his highly successful production house, Aaron has teamed with his wife and professional partner, actress Lisa Bobbert, in their award-winning two-hander, Defending the Planet, as well as appearing in a succession of other hit shows including The Revenge of the Pink Panties, Sex Bugs And Rock ’n Roll, Belly Laughs, Reality Bites and their hugely popular tribute to the Swedish super group, Abbamaniacs. Aaron received the Durban Theatre Awards’ The Mercury Personality of the Year Award in 2007. While his work in the South African Theatre industry has always focused largely on getting his large and ever-growing audience base of McIlroy followers to laugh till they cry. Aaron’s creative skills as a fully trained and experienced actor/producer extend far beyond the scope of general Stand-up comedy entertainers. Director Susan Monteregge, who has frequently worked with Aaron will soon team up with him again to write and direct his latest show Aaron@WORK.
